  • Storing internet browsing habits now comes into law

Similar kind of topic to what we mentioned in a few threads recently relating to online privacy. I recently saw the new so called Investigatory Powers Act that puts all online and electronic monitoring into law. While this law is unveiled for Great Britain I wonder what impact it will have elsewhere.

    UK surveillance powers explained

One of the features is requiring all internet providers to store customer browsing activity for a year. Was this not already occurring or is it just the first time to be enshrined in law?

You should research the various requirements for storage browsing in different countries and report back to us in this thread. Thanks!

There don't appear to be requirements as such. It appears simply some providers, ISPs, VPNs, etc. store people's browsing for a loose period of time, others not at all.
