Thank you! All of my tech support clients remind me of a story I read.
Have you ever read the story of R. U. Darby? In short, he and his uncle mined what was one of the richest gold mines in all of Colorado. They did extract a lot of gold from the mine! But eventually the ore disappeared and despite much desperate work on their own, Darby and his uncle failed to find any more gold. Discouraged, they gave up and went back home, and sold the mine and their equipment for about nothing to a junk dealer.
The junk man brought in a mining engineer who calculated that the next vein of ore was but three feet from where Darby had stopped. The Darby's had failed because they were not familiar with fault lines. The junk man took in millions of dollars of ore, because he knew enough to seek expert counsel.
Until you reach the point in your life when you understand that hiring experts who know more than you do is a necessity, you will have to go it alone. My tech support clients have all reached that point in their lives and know that sometimes you have to spend a little to get a lot.
